Hope everyone is having a good week. We have addressed the boat trailers in Rivercrest Park with the rowing teams and they should be gone by this weekend. We have had some issues with Berkley and AHN storing the trailers in the park and we have asked them moving forward to find other accommodations for trailer storage when they are not in use. The South Seminole Heights Civic Association Executive Board is presently looking for an artist to design a street mural to be painted directly onto the pavement at the intersection of North River Boulevard and West Louisiana Avenue. The total surface area is approximately 289 ft2 and measures roughly 17 ft x 17ft. Neighborhood residents with little to no artistic and painting skills will be assisting in painting the final mural onto the street; although not required, the committee is interested in considering a stencil pattern for the community to use as a guide. A pattern similar in concept to a paint by number or something comparable in nature is requested. The pattern will be retained by South Seminole Heights Civic Association upon completion of the mural for future maintenance. Eligibility: Open to all visual artists. Those with some experience executing their ideas from concept to completion and working with the public preferred but not required. Must be comfortable with working with individuals with little to no art experience, all ages and diverse backgrounds. Seminole Heights and Central Tampa resident artists encouraged to apply. The artist will be working closely with South Seminole Heights Civic Association. Budget: The budget project is $1,500; this amount is to cover all expenses including design, fabrication, installation, paint supplies and materials, etc. There is the potential for some additional donations to this budget. The artist is expected to meet project budget and schedule and will be reporting to South Seminole Heights Civic Association Project Manager. Insurance is excluded from the budget. South Seminole Heights Civic Association will be providing insurance to cover. Artist Selection Process: The South Seminole Heights Civic Association Executive Board will review the submissions and opt to choose a finalist, or select multiple finalists to submit refined proposals. Finalist(s)’ proposals will also be reviewed by the City of Tampa Arts Program and the Department of Transportation. The artist/s will work with the Board and the City of Tampa Government if any adjustments are needed. Final selection will be voted on by South Seminole Heights neighborhood residents.
